Midwest Meets Manhattan

About Me

I’m a college senior at Oklahoma Christian University, striving to finish school and move into the publishing industry. I’m not graduating until December, so I’m trying to be involved, hang out with my friends as much as possible, and just generally enjoy life more than I have for the past two years or so. I’m trying to blog more frequently than I have this school year, so as my desire to procrastinate grows, so will my post count.

My blog is called Midwest Meets Manhattan because I created it as I began living in Manhattan (Upper West Side, if you want specifics) for the summer as an intern for DailyLit – and I’m from Oklahoma. Now that my internship is over, I’m going to continue blogging here because I’m kind of addicted to blogging. Plus I’m planning on moving back to NYC after graduation, so I’ll be able to pick this up again as a legitimate blog whose title actually makes sense then.

It’s extremely hard for me to narrow down a favorite book. Because I don’t have a lot of free time for reading outside of classwork, it’s difficult to really say. I’ve tried to read more for fun this semester, and it’s gone okay, I suppose. My favorite authors are Nick Hornby, David Sedaris, Audrey Niffenegger, and Alain de Botton. My tastes in individual books tend to change on a fairly regular basis, so if you’re curious, just ask – that’s probably a better system.

I watch LOST, The Office, 30 Rock, Grey’s Anatomy and Gossip Girl obsessively. I aspire to be a cross between Liz Lemon and Addison Montgomery. And Clare Abshire-Detamble, but she’s from a book, not TV.

I could live for the rest of my life on salt & vinegar chips and Dr. Pepper, I think.
